Safety & certifications

Training

The safety of our employees and customers is the most important part of our operations. RRI has instilled a range of training tools, operational guidelines and certifications to protect all personnel on every project.

HAZWOPER

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) is a set of OSHA regulations protecting employees working with hazardous substances—including those performing cleanup, corrective actions and emergency response. RRI team members have passed a HAZWOPER course that covers all OSHA-recommended procedures.

OSHA 10-Hour/30-Hour

OSHA certification provides workers and supervisors with awareness of common job-related hazards. The 10-hour course covers general safety and health hazards, while the 30-hour course explores a wider variety of safety subjects and includes in-depth, industry-specific training.

Confined Space Entry (CSE) and CSE Rescue

Confined space operations are more dangerous—and require more training—than non-entry scenarios. RRI teams are thoroughly trained and specially equipped to support our clients in the event of a confined space emergency.

Operator Qualification (OQ)

In addition to standard training programs such as HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry, RRI maintains a variety of certifications required by specific industries. One example is Operator Qualification, which is a program that pipeline operators must adhere to according to state and federal codes.

Rail Safety and Emergency Response

Our skilled teams use an extensive array of specialized equipment and materials to handle spills of all levels and types. That means we can respond to a broad range of emergency incidents—including releases at transportation facilities, ports, roadways, railways, pipelines and waterways.

National Incident Management

National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training Programs help to mitigate risk by facilitating the training and qualification of emergency management personnel. The NIMS-trained employees at RRI are well versed with the shared vocabulary, systems and processes that guide how personnel work together during a crisis.

Specialized Response

Hazmat Specialist training prepares responders to use specialized chemical protective clothing and equipment to patch, plug, contain and mitigate the release or spread of hazardous materials. This specialized training is more rigorous than training at the operations level.

Certifications

Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) Classification OSRO #32

OSRO #32 Classification is based on minimum equipment requirements and response time standards outlined in the U.S. Coast Guard’s OSRO Classification Guidelines. If your facility requires a Facility Response Plan (FRP), contact us to discuss listing RRI as your first responder.

Transportation Worker Identification Credentialing (TWIC®)

TWIC is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need unescorted access to secure areas of our nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. These include ships, ferries, dockside warehouses and port customs offices.

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) Type II Hazardous Materials Response Team

State-certified Hazardous Materials Response Teams (HMRTs) are the only entities allowed to conduct hazardous materials incident response in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. They can be officially dispatched to an incident by the county emergency management coordinator or their designated delegate.
